Committees
 



In addition to the Nominating Committee, which is appointed preceding each election year under Article VII, Section 3 of the IALL Constitution, Article VIII provides that:

"The President may appoint such additional committees as he or she believes appropriate, and designate the chair to serve during his or her presidency. Sub-committees may be established by a committee to assist it in its work. The President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee."

Current IALL committees are listed below with their charges and current membership:


Communications Committee

Charge:

The Communications Committee provides advice and counsel to the editors of the International Journal of Legal Information (IJLI) and the IALL web site, while developing other IALL print and electronic publication and communications initiatives.

Conference Committee

Charge:

to advise the Officers, the Board and the Board Liaisons on the planning and coordination of Association conferences.

Finance Committee

Charge:

to advise the Officers and the Board on financial planning and financial administration of the Association and to assist the Treasurer in drawing up an annual budget and in monitoring the finances of the Association.

Scholarships Committee

Charge:

The purpose of the Scholarships Committee is to administer the funds made available by the Association for programs of financial assistance and its work includes formulating programs, advertising and selection of recipients. At present the Association offers professional development bursaries to enable law librarians who are normally unable to benefit from Association activities to attend the IALL annual conference. This program is described on the Scholarships page of the Association website [insert link]. The Committee is also considering how the Association might play a part in assisting law librarians to undertake placements or exchanges internationally to promote their professional development.

Charge:

IALL wants to recognise valuable legal information web sites by this award. The Association would like to encourage the development of useful, authoritative, reliable, and user-friendly sites and will make its selection on this basis.
