February 2010 – Announcement by the Secretary on the
process for the election of the Board 2010-13
Dear
IALL Member,
On
behalf of the Nominations Committee of the International Association of
Law Libraries, I am pleased to inform you of the slate of candidates
proposed by the Committee for Officers and Members of the Board of
Directors for the term 2010 – 2013 (see below).
Article
V1 of the Constitution states:
The
Officers of the Association shall consist of the President, First Vice
-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer to be elected
by the regular members of the Association….
Article
V11 specifies the composition of the Board of Directors:
The
Board of Directors shall consist of the officers specified in Article
V1, eight additional members, and the immediate Past President. Five of
the Board members shall be elected by the regular members of the
Association and three shall be appointed by the outgoing Board of
Directors…

As
directed by Article V11 of the Constitution, I am submitting the list of
candidates proposed by the Nominations Committee to all members for 60
days from the date of mailing. During this period, names of
regular members may also be submitted as candidates for any elected
office by petition signed by ten or more regular members and submitted
to the Secretary by mail to the address below. If further nominations
are received, an election by written ballot containing the names
submitted will be held. If no further names of nominees are submitted,
the names submitted by the Nominations Committee will be elected by
acclamation without ballot.
The
membership will be informed of the results by 1 July 2010.

December 2008 - New Board Members
In December 2008, Second Vice-President Halvor Kongshavn and Board Member Amanda Barratt stepped down from the Board because of successful career moves. The Board congratulates them and thanks them for their service to the Association.
The Board has appointed two new members to the Board for the remainder of the 2007-2010 term:
Pedro A. Padilla-Rosa of the University of Puerto Rico Law Library and one of the co-Chairs of the 2008 conference Local Organising Committee, and
Jeroen Vervliet, Director of the Peace Palace Library in the Hague, the Local Organiser of the 2010 Conference.
The post of Second Vice-President has not been assigned.
