The Annual Course on International Law Librarianship is the Association's main meeting and educational event of the year.  There are three main themes this year building on the increasing importance of Malaysia on the world stage:

  • Global Legal Issues
  • Malaysian Law
  • Malaysian Libraries (with special emphasis on law libraries)

Speakers will include eminent legal academics, scholars, and law librarians from the region.

 Location                                                  

The association Annual Meeting is being held for the first time in Malaysia.  Malaysia is a multi-racial and multi-cultural melting pot with a cosmopolitan population made up of Malays, Chinese, Indians and numerous ethnic groups. Here, one can experience a wealth of cultural and racial diversity that is both colorful and unique and the legal system reflects that diversity. The conference will be held in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur.


 

 Travel                                                  


From Kuala Lumpur Airport there are Airport limo and budget taxis readily available at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and alternatively delegates can take the KLIA Express and KLIA Transit (also known as Express Rail Link or ERL) the fastest modes of transport connecting the airport to the KL ‘Sentral’ station, the main transportation hub in the city.

There is a network of light rail transit systems in Kuala Lumpur. The University has its own stop, only four stops from KL ‘Sentral’ on the Putra LRT line. The hotels listed above are served by the light rails system as described on their websites. http://kiat.net/malaysia/KL/transit.html

  Social Events                                                  

 

There will be a traditional Malay dance on the opening evening performed by the University cultural team. Sightseeing and excursions will be at Malaysian landmarks: the Kuala Lumpur Tower, the Petronas Twin Towers, the National Bird Park, Batu Caves and Hindu Shrine, and the federal administrative city of Malaysia, Putrajaya, a new ‘intelligent garden city’. The schedule also includes visits to law libraries: University of Malaya Law Library, Attorney General’s Chambers Library, Palace of Justice Library and the National Library Malaysia

  Venue                                                       

 

The conference venue is at the Auditorium Tun Mohamed Suffian, Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. The host institution, University of Malaya, is the oldest university in Malaysia and the first to open a law school. The university is located close to the city center and the accommodations for delegates.

The refreshment breaks and the publishers exhibitions will be at the foyer of the faculty building.
