The aim of the Legal Reference materials course is to introduce the structure of the legal system in the UK and use of key legal information sources. The course runs online over two mornings or afternoons – it is our intention to alternate. It covers the theory of the English legal system, legislation, case law and practical legal research experience.
The focus is on the law of England and Wales, but some consideration is given to the devolved nations.
“Library Futures and Wildest Dreams.” Coming out of challenging times, libraries have the opportunity to create their own exciting futures with technology, partnerships, passion and commitment. Computers in Libraries 2024 highlights innovative examples of libraries innovating, taking advantage of leading technology, creating wild dreams, and making them happen in their communities.
“International Law in an Interdependent World.” Programs include The Authority of Scholarship; Transnational Justice for International Crimes: State of the Art; and Accountability or Imperialism? From Terrorism to Territorial Torts.
The 2024 Teaching the Teachers conference will focus on evidence-based instructional strategies and instructional design. Taught by law librarians for law librarians, this program will be a hands-on learning opportunity where we will leverage our collective teaching experience to enhance our work in the legal research classroom and revise/prepare materials for our teaching with guidance from experts. Every program will have an interactive component. Attendance is application-based.
The annual Convention of German Librarians BiblioCon (Deutscher Bibliothekartag) is Germany’s most important forum for continuing qualification in the library and information sector. It is also the largest Convention for librarians and information professionals in Europe. The BiblioCon is jointly organized by VDB and BIB (Berufsverband Information Bibliothek).
