Keble College Oxford

Keble is one of the ‘newer’ Oxford Colleges, having been founded and built in the later 19th century. The IALL meeting will take place in the modern Sloan Robinson Building.

Not only is Keble College the venue for the Conference, it also provides a unique location for accommodation for delegates.

OUP – Oxford University Press

The location for our opening reception on Sunday 31 July, OUP is a 15 minute walk from Keble College, and home to the largest academic press in the world. This attachment has a Map – OUP Oxford. The offices feature a small museum of the history of The Press, and registration for the conference will take place at OUP on Sunday before our Reception with entertainment by the Oxford Waits.

 

Balliol.

Balliol College

One of the oldest colleges in Oxford, founded in 1263, Balliol will be the venue for the IALL Annual Dinner on Wednesday 3 August. It is a 10 minute walk from Keble College, located on Broad Street

Outside its doors is the historic cross in the Broad, marking the location of the burning of the Oxford Martyrs

 The Bodleian Libraries

The Bodleian Library is one of the oldest libraries in Europe, and in Britain is second in size only to the British Library with over 12 million printed items. The Old Library and the Radcliffe Camera form the heart of Oxford, stretching from Broad Street through to St Mary’s University Church on High Street. A tour of the Old Library will be offered to delegates

Several library tours

Oxford has over 100 libraries withing a 3 mile radius.Apart from c. 30 Bodleian Libraries (which include the Radcliffe Camera, the Taylorian, the Sackler, and the Radcliffe Science Library), each College has its own independent library open to its own students and Fellows only.

In addition to a tour of the Old Bodleian Library, tours of the following libraries – Merton College Library,Harris Manchester, All Souls, Pembroke, Oxford Union and Lincoln – will be offered to delegates.
