“The Rule of Law and the Role of Law in Asia.” Every country in Asia embraces the rule of law in theory, but differences sometimes emerge as to what it means in practice.At the national level, many jurisdictions manifest pluralism through the mix of indigenous, colonial, and national legal projects in the course of their history. We hope that the conference theme is specific enough to be thought-provoking, while also being general enough to encompass a wide range of offerings comparable to what we have seen in past ASLI forums.
