My name is Khulekani Khumalo I’m 32 years old I was born and raised in a small township by the name of Hammarsdale near Durban, South Africa. I’m currently residing in Pretoria, South Africa, one of the capital cities in the country. I’m a Chief Library Officer in the Office of the Chief State Law Adviser (International Law) Legal Library within the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, my key responsibility is to provide legal research and information services to State Law Advisers (International Law) on domestic and international law.

I am one of the bursary recipients of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) scholarship committee, to attend the 41st Annual Course in Geneva, Switzerland which took place on the 08-12 October 2023. It was honour for me to be part of the IALL Annual Course in Geneva as a delegate, and it was my first time ever attending IALL course.

I really had a great time being in there I learned so much during the period of the course the presentations. And visits to the United Nations Library & Archives, International Committee of the Red Cross museum were very beneficial to me as my end-users deal with matters pertaining Multilateralism and International Law on a daily basis. I had an opportunity to network with other law librarians from different countries, and I made professional friendships with some of the delegates which was great. I will forever be grateful for this opportunity it is one of the best things that have ever happen in my life and in my career as a law librarian. I am planning to have my own membership with IALL once my complimentary membership has ended. There’s a lot of good opportunities and benefits of being a member with IALL which will give me growth and expand my knowledge and expertise in Foreign, Comparative and International Law.

I would like to thank the IALL board once again for selecting me as one of the bursary recipients to attend this course. It means a lot to me I wouldn’t take this for granted it going to open a lot of doors for me. I look forward to attending future IALL Annual Courses, and hopefully I will be able to attend the next year course in Norway.
