In addition to the Nominating Committee, which is appointed prior to each election year under Article VII, Section 3, of the IALL Constitution, Article VIII provides the following:

“The President may appoint such additional committees as he or she believes appropriate, and designate the chair to serve during his or her presidency. Sub-committees may be established by a committee to assist it in its work. The President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee.”

Communications Committee

  • Charge: The Communications Committee provides advice and counsel to the editors of the International Journal of Legal Information (IJLI) and regarding the IALL website while developing other IALL print, electronic, and communication initiatives.

Finance Committee

  • Charge: To advise the Officers and the Board of Directors on financial planning and financial administration of the Association and to assist the Treasurer in drawing up an annual budget and monitoring the finances of the Association.

Grants Committee

  • Charge: The purpose of the Grants Committee is to administer the funds made available by the Association for programs of financial assistance. Its work includes formulating programs, advertising grants, and selecting recipients. At present, the Association offers professional development grants to enable law librarians who are normally unable to benefit from Association activities to attend an IALL annual conference. This program is described on the Scholarships page of the Association’s website. The Committee’s work also considers how the Association might assist law librarians to undertake international placements or exchanges to promote their professional development.
