The application period for financial assistance to enable law librarians to attend IALL’s 44th
Annual Course – IALL 2026 in Cambridge, England from Sunday 13th September to Wednesday
16 th September 2026 has now closed.
IALL awards two distinct types of grants:
- Members Grants for current Individual members who have paid their dues for the
current year and at least the two immediately preceding calendar years; three such
bursaries of up to a maximum US$3,000 each will be awarded. - Non- members Grants for librarians who are not current members of IALL; three such bursaries of up to a maximum of US$3,000 each will be awarded.
IALL grants are not open to officers or members of the Board of Directors of the
Association. See Selection Guidelines below for each grant category.

Members Grant Eligibility and Selection Guidelines
- Applicants must have paid their dues as Individual members of IALL for the current year
and at least the two immediately preceding calendar years. - Applicants must be in current employment in librarianship with significant legal context
to their work. The grants are not available to students or those not currently in
employment. - Preference will be given to:
- applicants with a demonstrated commitment to IALL and its mission;
- applicants who demonstrate promise and are likely to make significant
contributions to the association and the profession of law librarianship; - applicants who have not received a Members or Non-members (regular) IALL
grant in the past 5 years; - applicants who cannot otherwise afford to attend.
Non-members Grant Eligibility and Selection Guidelines
- Applicants need not be members of the Association.
- Applicants must be in current employment in librarianship with significant legal context
to their work. The grants are not available to students or those not currently in
employment. - Preference will be given to:
- applicants who demonstrate promise and are likely to make a significant
contribution to the profession of law librarianship; - applicants who cannot otherwise afford to attend;
- applicants who have not received a Members or Non-members (regular) IALL
grant in the past 5 years. - applicants who have not attended a conference outside their own country / region
or studied or worked outside their own country before.
- applicants who demonstrate promise and are likely to make a significant
Award
The Grants Committee in consultation with the IALL President will decide on awards. The
Committee may make awards, vary the amount of the awards or make additional awards within
the above limit. The Association’s decisions on the award of grants are final and no
correspondence will be entered into.
