The 2025 IALL Board election was held on 14-16 April 2025. There was a tie/draw for the seventh and final Board Member position, which required a run-off election on 29-30 April 2025 between two candidates. Now that the run-off election has concluded, I am pleased to announce the new IALL Board for 2025-2028 is as follows:
Officers:
- President – Mark Engsberg, Emory University, USA
- Vice President – Rebecca Josefine Five Bergstrøm, University of Oslo, Norway
- Secretary – Michael McArthur, Duke Law School, USA
- Treasurer – Jean Wenger, Chicago-Kent College of Law, USA
Board Members:
- Vanessa Blackmore, NSW Department of Communities & Justice, Australia
- Claudia Holland, Max-Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Germany
- Andreas Knobelsdorf, University of Hamburg, Germany
- Nathalie Matthey, Swiss Institute of Comparative Law, Switzerland
- Trung Quach, High Court of Australia, Australia
- Valentina Spiga, European University Institute, Italy
- David Isom, Georgetown University Law Center, USA
The current IALL Board extends its deepest thanks to the members of the Nomination Committee for their work: Ruth Bird (chair), Alison Shea, and Khulekani Khumalo.
We would also like to thank Michael Lindsey for administering the election.
Lastly, thank you to all the candidates who ran and all the members who voted. It is a testament to the strength of IALL that we had so many people who wanted to serve on the Board. I have been involved with other librarian associations where we struggled to find candidates to serve on the board. That is not the case with IALL.
Congratulations again to the new IALL Board!

Secretary, International Association of Law Libraries
