The Nominating Committee cordially invites members to propose fellow members, or to self-propose, to be considered for nomination by the Nominating Committee for election to the position of Officer or a Member of the Board of Directors.

I.  How to Make a Nomination?

Nominations must be from regular members whose dues are paid to date. Only regular members whose dues are paid to date are eligible to be nominated.  Regular members may nominate themselves.

  • The deadline for receipt of nominations is 16 March 2025.
  • Complete the IALL Board Nomination Form 2025.  Completion of the form is required if self-nominating or if nominating another IALL member.
  • Requirements and information about serving as an Officer or Board Member appear below in part II of this Call for Nominations.
  • Nominees who meet the basic requirements will be contacted by the Nominating Committee and if they have not self-nominated, they will be asked to complete Part B of the nomination form.  Nominees may also be interviewed by members of the Nominating Committee via Zoom or some other virtual meeting platform. This includes current Officers and Members of the Board.
  • If nominated by the Nominating Committee, you will be asked to provide a brief (no more than 200 words) statement that outlines your personal particulars, career summary, and aspirations for furthering the interests of the Association.
  • Questions about the nomination process should be directed to Ruth Bird at: ruth.bird@retired.ox.ac.uk

II.  Requirements for Serving on the IALL Board

IALL is a volunteer organization and has no permanent office staff to support the work of the Officers and Board Members.  As such, each Officer and Board Member must be able to commit to the time needed to carry out the work of the Association and the Board.  As outlined in the IALL Constitution, Board terms are three years and service begins at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting (the next AGM will take place during the Houston Annual Course on 19-23 October 2025).

There are important requirements for becoming an IALL Officer or Member of the Board.  These should be seriously considered by anyone seeking to serve on the Board.

  • You must be a member of the IALL whose dues are paid up to date. If you are not currently a member, you must join immediately to be nominated for the Board.
  • You must be able to attend every IALL Conference during your term of office as well as the Pre and Post Conference Board meetings held in conjunction with each annual conference.
  • You must be able to fund all costs associated with your attendance at the conferences and Board meetings, including conference registration, hotel accommodation, transportation, and meals.  These are not subsidized by the Association (except for up to three nights of standard hotel accommodation to enable attendance at Board meetings before and after the conference).
  • You must be able to devote a considerable amount of time throughout the year to the work of the Association and Board, including but not limited to the specific work assigned to each Officer and general Board Member.  The President of IALL must also commit to travelling to other countries on behalf of the Association throughout the term of office.
  • Board Members are required to serve on or chair committees: Communications, Conferences, Education, Finance and Grant.
  • Board Members are not eligible for bursaries from IALL.
  • Because of the time commitment to perform IALL work throughout the year, Board Members will need institutional support.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we welcome your participation.
